Our first ever Christmas podcast will be out soon and I couldn't be more excited. We titled the show December's Christmas in keeping with our tradition of titling all of our show's with the letter "C." Now that I think about it, we were pretty much made for producing a Christmas themed show. We decided to gather some of our best friends in the studio over the course of a few days to share some Christmas memories and sing some songs together, and of course we recorded the whole thing. I mean, that's kind of what we do after all. In addition to the songs, Kim, Kirt and I wrote and acted in a quick Christmas radio play which is silly, but it serves as a fun vehicle to carry the songs along. Making December's Christmas really was as much fun as it was a labor of love. We had to work around schedules to get everyone in the studio at the same time, we had to arrange traditional Christmas songs; make them our own without destroying their original melodies, and as previously mentioned, we had to write and act in a short skit. I have to thank all my fellow members of December's Children for being a part of this. I also have to thank our friends Doug Langerud, Joe Gemmill and Ryan Avdem. Doug Langerud fans will be happy to know that he performs a new original Christmas song on the show with Yen on cello. Ryan and Joe stopped by to sing a couple tunes with us too! We decided to capture the feeling of family on each track with a "real" sound. Sure, we could have used all of our fancy equipment to get a more professional quality on the songs. We could have used auto tune to achieve perfect pitch. We could have used any number of studio tricks and editing techniques in fact, but we wanted the listener to feel involved so we didn't. December's Christmas will sound to you very near to the way it sounded to us while making it. If you listen closely you may hear my daughters shuffling papers, or trying to shout "daddy I want juice" over the band. For those who grew up in the Midwest with us, this podcast will feel like home. Most of us in this corner of the world know the joy of family gathering together in the living room to sing a Christmas carol or two. I don't know if many things in life compare to it. For this reason we really put our hearts into this one and I believe you'll hear that when you listen. December's Christmas will be available for free download on this website and on iTunes as well. It's our Christmas gift to all of our wonderful fans. Merry Christmas.
